Seriously!!!!

Ok, so thanks to some psycho crazy stalker guy...I'm having my blog be private. I really didn't want to have to this, but the other day a guy came into Scott's office and was talking to him about me and Simon and Scott's parents..by name! CREEPY! So, hence the reason for going private. I think people who type in "49er fire" might be linking to my blog...and that's the last thing I want. So, you know the drill...if you want to be invited to see my blog, please leave me your email address. For now, I've made it so your comments are not shown so that when you leave me your email address, no one will be able to see them.
Hope this all makes sense.

Just in case you didn't know...

We all dislike reading posts that don't "lift us up" but sometimes we have to write things down so that we can remember them...hence my "online journal blog"
So, here is the "downer" news. As most of you probably know, Scott, Simon, and I have been living with Scott's parents in their home. We have almost been there for 2 years with all of our "house" stored in the garage till we moved out one day.
Well, I'm sure you've heard on the news that there was a fire in Auburn, CA (49er fire)...which is where we live. Unfortunately, Scott's parents home was burnt down in that fire. Here are the details:
My husband Scott and I, with our son Simon got home from church at around 2:30 on Sunday. Everything was normal like every other Sunday and we went into the kitchen to start making dinner. Simon needed a nap, so I went upstairs to lay him down. Right when I went upstairs, Scott yelled out to me very urgently to come downstairs. So I did and we noticed a lot of smoke away from the house. We thought it was probably this one field by our house that has caught on fire multiple times, but has always been put out and has never gotten close to our house. So I went upstairs with Simon again, and Scott continued to cook dinner. About 10 minutes later, Scott's parents came in the door from church (we were living with them in their house) and I could hear them from upstairs running around the house franticly. I came downstairs to my in-laws running around collecting as many pictures as possible. On their way home from church, they saw the fire and within minutes was heading the way of the house because of how bad the wind was that day. I went over to the back window and saw ash flying into the backyard and realized this was for real. So Scott and I grabbed as many things as we could. We got our laptop with all our pictures and videos, one of two filing cabinets, Simon's baby book, a couple pictures that were on our bedroom wall, passports, social security cards, and some of Scott's mission letters. We only had about 10 or 15 minutes to grab things. I think we could have had a few more minutes, but all we could think about was making sure our son was safe. So Scott and I grabbed Simon (covering him with a blanket because the smoke was SO thick), and we each got in our cars and slowly left. The smoke was so thick that we had to drive very slow to make sure we wouldn't hit anything. On our way out we saw our Relief Society President's house on fire..it was so surreal. We arrived at my grandma-in-laws house safe with my in-laws. The fire actually affected 4 homes in our ward.
We have been able to go back several times to go look, but weren't able to go through the ash for a few days after the fire because it was still so hot. We didn't think we would find anything, but we actually found some yearbooks, journals, some of Scott's Chiropractic school stuff, and I found some of my BYUH stuff. None of it was salvageable, but it was nice to see some memories one more time.
Right now we are living with a couple in our ward. We feel that it is such a blessing to be in their home. Not only are they so easy to live with, but their house is VERY baby proof. They have their grandkids over all the time, so there was a crib set up already, a tub with baby wash, and a box full of toys. So, thankfully, it has been an easy transition for Simon.
Scott's parents have found a place to rent till their house is rebuilt, so we will move in with them till we figure out what to do with our family.
Everyone we know and DON'T know have been so generous. We have received clothes, toys, and some other things so that we can get our life back together.

This is the smoke from the fire in our neighborhood. In this picture, we had arrived at Scott's Grandma's house. She lives about 5 minutes away, but it took us about 20 minutes to get there because of all the traffic.

This is the house...now.
This is the house as if you were looking at the front door. The steps survived!

We know many of you have been praying for our family, and we are so thankful and have felt your prayers. We are doing fine and we will keep you updated on our "new life" of our little family.

-Oh, and if any of my BYUH friends have pictures or anything from BYUH you can send me...please let me know. They, as well as my high school pictures, were the only pictures I lost in the fire, the rest were on our laptop...thank goodness!

A little childhood memories help...

Ok, we need you all to go back to your elementary school days. We're trying to remember what the words are to this little poem/song (but it doesn't have a melody...kinda sounds like a upbeat chant)...and while you say it, you are doing the motions on someone's back...This is what we've got, but can't remember if we are missing any words.
Here it is:
10 knives in your back (place 10 finger tips on person's back)
blood dripping down (with finger tips still on back, slide down back in "S" motion)
spiders crawling up your back (finger tips crawling up the back)
spiders crawling down (finger tips crawling down the back)
cool breeze (blow on person's back)
tight squeeze (a little tickle squeeze of the "love handles")
you've got the chills (just say it)

Ok, so after writing this, we know it sounds kinda psycho...but we all did weird things as kids...right? Help us out...or just let us know if you've heard it.

SOO Behind #4

Simon fell and hit his head on Scott's portable Chiropractic Table...so sad!

His bump

On July 18th, Scott had a birthday. He turned 29. We went to Red Robin for his birthday dinner.
In the morning I gave him this flower. He had to pull off each petal according to the time written and on the other side was the activity for that time. Some things got jumbled because of Simon's nap. But it was fun. We went and saw Transformers II...it was a fun day and the flower thing worked out great. I just had to make sure he didn't cheat and look at the back!! He was honest!
His birthday night, drying Simon off from his tub tub.

The candles I had for him were really cool, but only one of them worked. The flame was the color of the candle. We had brownies and ice cream. yum!

A little scratch huh??
This was a robe and slipper set that I got at Simon's baby shower..it was too small for him when we put it on...we waited too long.

SOO Behind #3

Here's a picture of Scott and Simon at a wedding reception I sang at for a friend in our ward. Aren't they cute??
This is a few days after Simon's birthday. My mom put him on a firetruck ride. He loved it! Don't mind the Victoria's Secret store in the background!
Playing at the fountain with Granddaddy. He loves the water.
I love this picture of Simon with the band aid around his finger.
Ok. A while ago it was FREE corn dog day at Hot Dog on a Stick. So, Scott and I took advantage of it. I ended up having 2 corn dogs, and Scott had 4.

Uhh, what's that?
Just some of the sticks from our "healthy night out"
Happy Father's Day to Poppy
Happy Father's Day Daddy!
Simon LOVES books. Here he is reading one day on my lap. Notice the crossed legs once again!
Daddy and Simon at the Oakland Temple for a wedding...Sheila and Steve.
We went swimming at my sister's place in Fremont (Bay Area)

Simon with Aunty Shannon (Scott's sister) and Nicholas (Scott's nephew)
I volunteered to make a dessert for a potluck at the AAA (Auburn Aviation Association). Scott wants to get his pilot's license one day, so we go to the Aviation Association to meet people.
Ward 4th of July breakfast and swimming.

Watching the fire works.

Out for a little hike.
We saw lots of cool things on our hike...like this lizard!
Simon and I got ready to go out the the little pool in the back yard.

His 1ST Birthday! (SOOO Behind #2)

This is how "SOO Behind" I am...here is a post about Simon's birthday...that happened in May. Yes. May. I'm just going to leave it at that!

Here is Simon on the swing in the backyard after he woke up from his nap.
Sitting in his chair waiting for his birthday lunch.
Ok, so Simon is walking really well now, but this is him stumbling to Abuelita (my mom).
Our family. This is just before Simon is going to blow out his candle and eat his yummy birthday cake.
He needed a little help blowing out his candle.
Ok, so for those of you who don't know, Scott and I aren't giving Simon ANY sweets till he is 2 yrs. old. SOO, that made it hard for me to think of something to give him for his birthday..you know...something yummy for him to smash his face into. Well, I came up with a recipe. 1 cup Baby Cereal, 1 egg, and enough water to get to the consistency of muffin batter. Then I baked it for 30 minutes. Note: DO NOT poke cupcake with toothpick or it will fall in the middle. Thank goodness for trial runs! The frosting is pureed prunes..which he LOVES!!

Opening presents. Thanks everyone!!
A string pinata. A tradition from my side of the family. Simon loved it. And you wonder what came out since we aren't giving him sweets right? Well, we were stingy. We put in reeses peanut butter cups for us! He doesn't know the difference right?
Here's the cake I made.
A present from Abuelita and Granddaddy (my parents).

4 generations. Back row: My parents then Scott's parents. On the couch: My Grandparents then Scott's Grandma...then our family!
Other people that were at the party were Aunt Felecia, Uncle Logan, Aunt Judy, Aunt Chris, Aunt Brenda
The birthday boy with his mommy and daddy...and yes, he did keep the hat on!
The birthday boy got tired! A little snuggle for mama!

SOOOOO Behind.

Ok, I know. It's been a while. It happens to the best of us. I'm just going to get right into it because I have a lot of catching up to do. I'll be updating in the next couple of days with several posts...so here we go...post number one!

How could I not post this picture. I have no story behind it, just playing
with my camera one day.
Muscle Man!

Getting ready to go out to the pool!
And...the famous "oh" face
Simon loves the pool. A good friend in the ward got it for his birthday.

My birthday! That's right...I turned 27 on May 20th. Actually, I feel kinda weird writing a post about my birthday...hence the little amount of pictures that I'm posting for it. But I guess it's still something that happened that I need to include.
Scott took me and Simon on a picnic. We got sandwiches from Safeway' s Deli (one of my favorites) and some chocolate eclairs...another one of my favorites.
Simon is going to kill me when he's older. I was opening presents and Scott was taking pictures. Well, he kept snapping pictures of Simon over and over, and this is one that turned out...mid talking! Too funny! We went gold panning with some friends in our ward. They have some property up north and we went to see if we could get lucky so we all could be rich. I found a couple flakes that they let me keep. But nothing to really cash in.

We also brought some guns up to shoot and look at what we found. LADYBUGS!! They were everywhere! I mean EVERYWHERE! I have never seen so many ladybugs. This picture doesn't do it justice.
I'm going to hate myself for posting this...but it was funny. We took Simon out to his pool one day and we got our swimsuits on to get a little sun and soak our feet in the pool with him. Well, when I came outside from getting the camera, Scott was in the pool with Simon, so I decided to get in with them for a cute picture. Notice the water that is about to overflow! Note: little pool meant for kids and not a family!
This picture is so funny to me. Doesn't he look like he's texting. Oh man...what this next generation is going to be like!!
Check out his ankles, he ALWAYS crosses them, even when I pick him up, he crosses them in the air.
Some friends gave Simon some sunglasses for his birthday. They are so cute. And, he actually keeps then on, well, for about a couple of minutes and then he ends up playing with them. He loves them!
